The Bible and Healing
The Holy Bible is full of help and stories of healings and transformed lives! Christ Jesus encourages us to "Heal the Sick, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils, raise the dead" 1 The apostles, disciples, and the early Christians obeyed his command and healed themselves and others for hundreds of years after Jesus rose from the dead and ascended! The Christ Truth still lives today!
“But, how did the early Christians heal?”
It was more than mere hope that enabled early Christians to heal. It was “an absolute faith that with God all things are possible” 2 First-hand, the apostles and disciples saw Jesus' glorious awe-inspiring examples and time and again heard him say "thy faith hath made thee whole" 3 Seeing Jesus personally destroy malignant hate and death with pure Love, the disciples finally began to glimpse the possibilities: “He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also, and greater works than these shall he do” 4 and,”Ye shall know the Truth” and by knowing the Truth, “the Truth shall make you free!” 5 Christ Jesus rooted out fear and inspired absolute faith and trust in God.
Knowing the Truth as Christ Jesus knew it, heals instantly! Even as the invisible principle of truth in music and math produces harmony; is always available; must be scientific and provable - so the 'Truth' Jesus spoke of produces 'harmony'; is always available; must be scientific and provable. Truth is the answer to mankind's deepest yearnings and our most heartfelt prayer. As then, this Truth is not the “way of a material world”. The eternal Christ, Truth is a radically different view of reality with an incredible promise - freedom from stress, disease, worry, and financial issues - Today!

Christian Science Practitioners
Spiritual treatment and healing
Practitioners of Christian Science healing provide spiritual Bible based treatment through prayer that results in healing. You can contact a local practitioner to pray and word with you on a wide variety of issues such as:
- Relationship, career or financial difficulties
- Self / identity / stress / anxiety
- Physical or mental illness
Treatment is based on the Bible, and the principles explained in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Central to this treatment is the idea of one, all-good God, who loves and cares for each of us.
Working with a practitioner
Practitioners are available full time to help anyone, anywhere, through prayer. They answer questions, too. Feel free to contact a practitioner by phone, e-mail, or written letter. Many have offices where you can meet for an appointment, and some will also visit people in their homes. Practitioners are professionals, and do charge for the treatment they provide. Each practitioner sets individual rates, so feel free to discuss payment with any practitioner you contact.

A list of practitioners worldwide, with contact information, is published each month in The Christian Science Journal. You can get a copy at a Christian Science Reading Room. Partial listings, primarily of practitioners speaking a language other than English, can be found in the various editions of The Herald of Christian Science.

The men and women who advertise in these pages represent that they are devoted full-time to helping others through the prayer-based system explained in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, experienced in the healing ministry of Christian Science and available to give treatment through prayer for life challenges.

Christian Science Nurses
Christian Science Nurses are available to give non-medical aid to anyone in need of loving physical assistance while they are receiving Christian Science treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. Christian Science Nurses approach any physical challenge with the goal of witnessing healing through prayer and can assist with the following:
- meal preparation
- dressings and bandage changes
- showers and baths
- hand and foot nail care
- mobility assistance
- further needs assessment

Wayside House
Wayside House is a private Christian Science nursing facility in Victoria, offering Christian Science nursing care services and spiritual-renewal retreat facilities. It is for individuals receiving Christian Science treatment with a Christian Science practitioner. It has a very pleasant atmosphere and supplies excellent home cooked meals. If you would like to come for a meal, lunches are $ 7.00 and dinners are $ 10.00. Please call for reservations 24 hrs in advance. Our phone number is 250-598-4521.
You are welcome to make use of our library for quiet study. It includes Found Volumes of Christian Science Sentinels and Journals, a computer with access to the Internet and to the Concord study program.
If you are not already a member of Wayside, membership is only $10.00 a year. You will then receive our newsletter with all the updates of our activities and upcoming social events.
